Chit-chat: Omega Bugembe Okello
Museke: Can you tell us about your background and family?
Omega: I was born and bred in Uganda.
Museke: How did you get into music and what was your first break?
Omega: I started singing from home, church was the major influence and I was shaped by Sunday school. Truth of why I sing is because my mother attended an event and saw a gentleman with his kids singing and she was so touched so she wished her children would sing too. My brother and I sing. I sang in the African children’s choir.
Ayetoro - Afrobeat musicians
I interviewed Wanlov da Kuborlor, a Ghanaian musician recently and one of the African musicians, he said he admired was Ayetoro (actual name is Funsho Ogundipe, Ayetoro is the band/music). He called him a step ahead of Fela. Every Nigerian and their father is in love with Fela Kuti's music so for anyone to say anyone is a step ahead of Fela is a very bold statement.
These were Wanlov's words - "He has all world class musicians in his band, he never plays anything he has recorded, creates new songs for his shows, records them at the show and never plays them again." I want to find out about that too.

A Fresh Freshlyground Album!
So, our favorite Afro-fusion group from South Africa has done it again! Freshlyground just released their second, and most anticipated album. Its called Ma'Cheri. I wonder where the inspiration for the name comes from, Ma' Cheri in tsotsitaal means "the beautiful women". The album was released on September 3rd 2007 and is already getting great reviews, so I hear. I imagine it is the rockas! The first single is "Potbelly" (lol, interesting...) and my research tells me we should be looking out for a video soon. It may just be coming to a Museke near you!
