Faze: I’m the 4th born of my family of 11, 6 boys 3 girls my mum and dad

Museke.com: How did you get into music and what was your first break?
I’ve been singing right from secondary school days but I took it as a profession 1995

Museke.com: How did you guys get together to form Plantashun Boiz?
Faze: It started with black face and 2 face. Then I was called lyrical Urge because I used to rap but when I joined the group I had to change my name to faze to blend with the group name.

The MTVBase Africa chart is back! Kenya's Jua Cali and Nigeria's Eldee da Don join the countdown for the first time and a certain Nigerian act stays at the top of the countdown. MTV Base & Shell Initiative Videos - Wahu, Bleksem, Kwaw Kese, Olu Maintain

MTV Base Africa and Shell have partnered in another initiative to shoot some excellent music videos for a number of African musicians. They have already shot videos for Ghana's Tinny (Incomplete), South Africa's HHP (Music and Lights) and Kenya's Nikki (Kipofu).

The first MTV Making the Video Challenge with Shell partnered Little X, the Toronto-born music video director behind cutting edge music videos with Sean Paul, Jay Z and Rihanna, with South African video directors, Kwaito artist Bleksem and Mozambique's Dama do Bling on their exciting single collaboration, 'Wena Uthini' (also known as Thula Uzoyiboma). Bleksem has been riding high on the success of his 'How low can you go' track with DJ Cleo. Dama do Bling is one of Africa's best female emcees and she has also released singles from her new album (Chamadas para a Bling), including 'Gimme love'.

9ice wins MOBO Best African Act 2008

9nice nice naija 9ice abolore akande alapomejiArguably the biggest Nigerian musician this year, 9ice, has won his first major international award. He was named the recipient of the award for the Best African Act category at the 13th annual Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) awards, held at Wembley Arena, London, on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Abolore Adigun Akande emerged victorious with almost half of the votes cast over Asa, P-Square, D'Banj, Jozi, Wahu, HHP (Jabba), Jozi, JuaCali, and Faze.

9ice has had a remarkable year on the back of the ever popular Gongo Aso hit, as well as tracks like Street Credibility featuring Tuface Idibia, Party Rider, Photocopy and Wedding Day. He also got married to Oluwaseun Toni Payne-Akande.

Museke: How are you?
Obiwon: Great!!

Museke: Is Obiwon your real name? Can you tell us about your background and family?
Obiwon: My real name is Obiora Nwokolobia-Agu. I actually bear the stage name Obiora a.k.a Obiwon now. I guess u can decode the Obiwon thingy arose from the similarity between my real first name and my childhood sci-fi hero. I grew up in a middle class Christian family in Enugu, Eastern Nigeria. I’m the 3rd out of 4 kids- 2 boys and 2 girls. I did all my schooling in the east graduating from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2001. I then migrated to Lagos the music capital in 2002, worked a nine-to five till 2006, same year I dropped my debut album. Before then I had a stint as part of the Thorobreds of the StreetHop fame and had released a solo EP in 2005.

Nigeria Music Awards Winners 2008

There are a ton of music award shows all over Africa these days. The Nigeria Music Awards held over the weekend in Imo State claims to be the official awards ceremony in the wake of countless ceremonies around - Nigerian awards in UK, USA, other organized by Hip Hop World, Soundcity among others. We will need to see continuity in this NMA's to christen it the official one. (There is also the AMEN awards)

2Face records with R. Kelly - worldwide collaborations

2face Idibia confirmed in an interview that he has done a track with R. Kelly for his next album. That is really exciting. He says it is being mastered and mixed now.
Will post the song when I get a hold of it.

Does anyone know of any other huge collaborations African musicians are having with established worldwide stars?
Also, did anyone hear the track Faze supposedly did with Akon?
