chop bar

Styl-Plus' Iya basira shows that there is a place for food in African music

Chop bar
I was quite shockprised to find out that Styl-Plus had made a song like Iya Basira. The song is not really R&B, it's not really rap, but it does sound African. Iya Basira talks about how someone has gotten into trouble with his girlfriend and mother because he has substituted their cooking for Iya basira's - the classic roadside kiosk chopbar. They have caught Iya basira's spell and their lives are a mess as a result. Eating at chopbars is a pastime for many Africans and popular social spot.
