What is the general import of this song?
Let me choose a few lyrics and break them down. This song is believed to be in the rap battle style where Obrafour ralked down his competitors in the hiplife genre (circa 2001) and proclaimed himself as the best.
The chorus talks about he's the best and people will take him as such, etc.
"Mente gyae, kasahare mu asaase aban, Ɛto Nyame, ɛnyɛ tuo, agyan ne sekan" - He is the best in rap and nothing, not guns or sword can stop him, except God.
"Ɔbrafoɔ, wodi m'akyi a, wo engine bɛbɔ" - If you follow me, your engine would stop working.
"Me nnwom, I swear, Roman father bɛtɔ" - He swears that Roman fathers (priests) would buy his music.
"Class one papa, mo ti to" - People believe this Class One line refers to Class One Entertainment, the record label he was on the time and there was talk of him saying his being on that label made him superior to Lord Kenya.
"Yɛanwo obiara a, microphone da n'ano, Insha Allahu, w'anka no yie a, mɛte wo to" - No one was born who had a microphone by his mouth, if you don't say it well, I will expose you. This line was seen as a direct diss to Reggie Rockstone. Reggie mentioned in his song called 'Do that' that when he was born, he was holding a microphone - Reggie 's words - When I was born, I was holding my mic, the doctor looked at me and said this child would be bright and then I opened my eyes and said "That's right". Yet another indication, Obrafour was ready to downplay his competition's boasts/lyrics, etc
