Listen to the African musician collaborations playlist

Just received the mp3 for a song I've been secretly hoping will get made for sometime now. Nigeria's Sasha P and Mozambique's Dama do Bling are arguably the best female African rappers. I've been hoping they'll come together to make a track and they put it down recently. The jam is called 'Put it down' and it's great, Sasha P even spits a few lines in Portuguese. African musicians are uniting to make great music and with channels like MTVBase Africa and Channel O, Africans all over are beginning to listen and appreciate music from all over the continent. Here are a few other collabos you should know about.

Mali's Mokobe released his debut album in 2007 called Mon Afrique and he featured many African musicians. The album had Safari with Viviane (Senegal), Malembe with Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), Profitez with Youssou N'Dour (Senegal), Bisou with DJ Lewis (Cote d'Ivoire). Recently, he combined with Algeria's Mohammed Lamine on the hit song, African Tonik. Many will know Mokobe as a member of the French rap group, 113, and he recently banded with Algeria's Rim-K, Guadeloupe's AP, Moroccan comedian Jamel Debbouze and Awa Imani (Guinea & Senegal) on the hit track called Celebration. You may have heard Mokobe's On est ensemble with Ivory Coast's Molare but he also featured on DJ Kitoko's Phenomenal with Big Ali.

P-Square is arguably the biggest African group today, commanding crowds all over Africa. They've been performing in many places and have used the tours to collaborate with many artistes. They were featured on A-Y's Freeze as well as 'You & Me' by Cindy (formerly of Blu3 - Uganda). A-Y is one of Tanzania's best rappers and he's been collaborating with East African musicians for a while now, and more recently on Nasema nao with Uganda's Jose Chameleone following Jose's Sivyo Ndivyo with Tanzania's Professor Jay. He also did two remixes to his hit track 'Leo', one with Avril and then Wahu, both from Kenya. Wahu's collabo with Uganda's Bobi Wine called 'Little things you do' is running for the best video at the MTV Africa Music Awards.

Along with the Wahu-Bobi Wine joint, MTV brought together African musicians for some music video projects. Another was 'Wena Uthini' featuring Bleksem (South Africa) and Dama do Bling (Mozambique). Ghana's Kwaw Kese laid rhymes with Tanzania's Professor Jay on 'Who be you remix'. Okyeame Kwame (Ghana) joined Olu Maintain for a remix of his mega-hit, 'Yahooze'.

Mozambique's Lizha James did a lot of work on her most recent album in South Africa where she featured Mandoza on Voodoo. Simba, also from Mozambique featured Mota on Last Hope. Mota is from Madagascar. Zimbabwe's Buffalo Souljah featured Namibia's Gal Level and Malawi's TayGrin on his My type of guy song. We can't forget Uganda's Juliana and Tanzania's Bushoke for their massive popular song, Usiende mbali.

Ghana's dancehall sensation, Samini, went international with his Dagaati album. He made Sweetest Girls with Nameless (Kenya) and My kind of girl with Nigeria's Faze. Nameless was in the studios with Ray C and they came out with Mambo sina and his Karibia track with Burundi's Kidumu is a favorite. 2Face Idibia also collaborated with Kenya's Wyre on his track See it coming. Botswana's Scar was in Kenya for a while working as a judge on IDOLS East Africa and he featured on Kleptomaniacs' Come closer. Before Ghana's Tic Tac featured Nigeria's Key Note on Bosoe, he had blazed the trail for Ghana-Naija collabos with his Fefe n'efe song with Nigeria's Tony Tetuila.

Cote d'Ivoire's Magic System is one of the most popular African groups and are famous for their party tunes. Their collaborations with North Africans on C'est chaud ca brule and Un gaou a oran popularized Rai'N'B Fever. Their track Meme pas fatigue with Algeria's Cheb Khaled is the most popular song on Museke.com this year. They also combined with Burkina Faso's Yeleen on Ca ne connait pas.

There are many other collabos between African musicians. If they are some recent ones not mentioned in this post, please post a comment with the name of the song and the musicians. Africa unite!!!

Hey Guys, always when you talk about music, you don`t remind to say about Rwandan musicians, why? You think that in Rwanda there is no musicians? We have many musicians like Rafiki with his Coga Style, Rider Man,Tom Close,The Ben , The Brothers, Miss Jojo, Miss Channel, Queen Ali and so on. According to the collabos, you might not forget the hittest song in this East Africa which is called NAKUTAKA in which Miss Channel featured with Wyre from Kenya. This song is very good I swear you.
