Nigeria's Hip Hop World Awards Nominees 2009

There are many music awards in Nigeria. One of the major ones is the HHWA's (HipHop World Awards). The nominees for the 2009 have been announced. The awards ceremony will be hosted by singer Banky W and presenter Kemi Adetiba and held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on May 16, 2009. Banky W has multiple nominations so it's surprising he's been chosen to host the awards as well.
9ice, M.I, Tuface, D'Banj, Modenine and Lord of Ajasa won the most nominations. Relatively unknown names like Etcetera, YQ and Kel had multiple nominations as well. Full nominees list below

I am surprised to see 2Face's Unstoppable nominated, I thought it just came out? M.I. has too many fans right now, it's not easy to bet against him. I will go with 9ice's album though, I think it was the best.
HHWA2 ARTISTE OF THE YEAR - This has to be D'Banj, P-Square, 9ice or Timaya. P-Square is the biggest act in Africa at the moment but I'll go for D'Banj here.
HHWA3 SONG OF THE YEAR - Gongo aso wins my vote here.
HHWA4 RECORDING OF THE YEAR - 9ice's Street Credibility is an excellent song and I trust that it will be played over and over for years to come.
HHWA5 PRODUCER OF THE YEAR - Don Jazzy is the biggest hitmaker in Naija, he should win this.
HHWA6 BEST MUSIC VIDEO (AWARD GOES TO DIRECTOR) - Roll It by a mile.
HHWA7 BEST REGGAE/DANCEHALL ALBUM - None of the other nominees can stop Timaya.
HHWA8 BEST R ‘N’ B/ POP ALBUM - This is another tough category. I'll take the versatility of 9ice on this one. 2Face's album wasn't that good.
HHWA9 BEST RAP ALBUM - I haven't heard a lot of Mode 9's songs but it's tough to overlook the fandom M.I. has built with 'Talk About It'
HHWA10 BEST COLLABO - Good or Bad is quite popular but I'll take the 9ice and 2Face track
HHWA11 BEST RAP SINGLE - Kini big deal. You can't have a Nigerian party without playing this.
HHWA12 BEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE (MALE) - Darey is rated in this category. Count a vote for him.
HHWA13 BEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE (FEMALE) - Omawunmi's song is the best but for a vocal performance? I'll take Nikki's song instead.
HHWA14 NEXT RATED - Djinee is not new, he had Ego a couple of years back abi? I'll go for Omawunmi, I expect her to be big. 2009 will be her year.
HHWA15 HIP HOP WORLD REVELATION - Best new artiste - I was going to say M.I but I'll take Banky W. Just for a change and because he can 'sang' and probably rap a little.
HHWA16 AFRICAN ARTISTE OF THE YEAR (NON NIGERIAN CATEGORY) - Oh, lovely category. People know Dogg's music in Naija? And Witness? And Buffalo Souljah? Gotto go with Tinny here, he has the pidgin going on, has collaborated with Nigerian musicians, etc.
HHWA17 LYRICIST ON THE ROLL - This is the one category Modenine may win. Or M.I will take again. Can't help Lord of Ajasa here, my Yoruba is not good.
HHWA18 BEST STREET HOP (single) - DJ Zeez is buzzworthy. Final answer.
well for me i agree on every of your prediction except for the producer category, where did you put IDCABASA aguy whose magic worked not only on 9ice, but likes of Lord of ajasa Banky W, Durella, Face to mntion but a little, songs that he produced got more than 10 nominations, his name is everywhere, every artist wants him on there stuff, he turns nothing tosumtin by the Grace of God, i think its going to be sheer day time robbery if they denied him the award this year,

FYI, Kel's not unknown!!!
She's achieved quite a lot with one single, an indie record label and management; can't imagine what levels she'd attain or the bars she'll raise this year or in years to come. Kel's definitely my nominee for Next Rated artiste.
M.I should win all 5 categories!!!
I see what you saying about ID Cabasa, he'll be as deserving as Don Jazzy, seems he worked with a bigger range of artistes too.

I jurt want to say bigup to naija hiphop award,but is so bad dat 2baba is not apear in d best niaja act,cos dis guy is doin a great job,is takin naija music to d newt level.
hi hip hop award,to be emphemeral,id cabasa shud automaticcally be d producer of d year and d most responsible nigeria artiste (9ice) shud win in any category his name appears.
