Styl-Plus, one of Nigeria's best groups, is out again. It seems they release albums every two years or so. I have heard a few singles and this album is bound to do as well if not better as the last one (Expressions). The name of the album is called "Back and better" and the first two singles are Four Years (audio and lyrics here) and I no want trouble. Stay tuned to Museke.com for more news, audio, lyrics and video.
Four Years is my favorite so far. The song talks about the members of Styl-Plus have stayed together and no one has gone solo. Styl-Plus takes listeners through the group's history in the song. Tunde Akinsanmi met Shifi Emoefe in 1997 and together with Yemi Akinwonmi and Lanre Faneyi, they formed STYL (using their first names). Sadly, Lanre passed away shortly after and Zeal Onyecheme joined them to make it STYL +. T-Jazz and Joey, who have been the producers for the most part, started working with them in 2003 even though STYL-Plus is synonymous with Sunky & Mekoyo who produced Olufunmi.
Another single that is bound to keep the dance floors busy is 'I no want trouble'. They each talk about wanting to get a dance with a girl but are impeded by another guy who is dancing with the girl and they are not sure if he's her man. How many times have guys felt this way? This song is a long-time coming. I've also heard If you go which is another good track. I love Yoruba tracks and Mase by Styl-Plus is one of my favorite non-English Nigerian songs. We have one more on the new album in the form of 'Mi o ba e sere mo'.
Other tracks on the album include I don tire, Beautiful ladies, Still gonna love you, Candy man, When you smile, and Longing For You.
Here are a couple videos using new singles

i thought you were going to say why didn't Zeal leave the group or something? Zeal is right to stay with Styl-Plus and I am not the best person to comment about his hairdo. Lanre? You could be the missing L in the STYL-Plus squad o. Give them a shout through their myspace.
Aye ni the great chips in
He doesn't think they are better with this album though. hear him
The once-upon-a-time R&B saviours are stuck in the middle of their career, and the new body of work makes it look like they haven’t found the way up on the map.
This album may be getting scathing reviews, the boys getting unanimous bashing for failing to promote the ‘Expressions’ album, and for following it up with a less-excellent album, but if you listen to track one on ‘Back&Better’, you’ll realise that, whatever happens STYL Plus has one thing going for her: isn’t she the only group whose members have not fallen apart?
