Nhlanhla Sibongile Mafu Nciza MafikizoloMafikizolo and African music fans have to be wondering - has Nhlanhla Sibongile Mafu Nciza of Mafikizolo fame gone solo? She launched her first solo album last year and is now the face of Sunsilk as she seeks to shed her Mafikizolo image and push her name more into the limelight.

She has even launched a fashion line called NN Vibes or NN Vintage (NN are her initials). She owns it with her husband, music mogul and co-owner of TS Records, Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza. Thembinkosi owns TS Records with popular radio and TV personality, DJ Sbu Leope.

Nhlanhla released her debut solo album titled Inguquko (Change) through TS Records. This was after Mafikizolo abandoned plans for a new album and Nhlanhla quit Kalawa Jazmee to join TS Records. Kalawa believes we'll see more Mafikizolo music in the future as she still remains a member of the Mafikizolo duo but for now Nhlanhla is enjoying a successful solo career.

Her first radio single Ungowami became an anthem before the album was released.

Another song talks about hope. The song Mahlalela talks about a man who is struggling to get a job, and people call him names, while the wife is prepared to take care of him. Watch the video

Other tracks include Thanda Ngalendlela, Indoda Ayikhali, Played With My Heart, Babuyile, Uhlukile Wena, Ithuba Lakho, Ulibambe, Because of You, Uthando Lwakho, Angifuni Luto Ngawe,

In a related development, - Savibes reports

Mafikizolo are here to stay, and the word around is that the group will be releasing a brand new album later this year. Nhlanhla Nciza(lead singer) has recently been hitting the headlines with speculation that she had left the group, and that mafikizolo was no more.

Too much for people to say, but Savibes can reveal that the album which the group are currently working on has already been tipped as one of 2008’s christmas party anthems and is expected to exceed platinum status soon as it’s been released. “That’s how good the album is” a source revealed.

Mafikizolo is part of the high flying star producing hit banging record label Kalawa records which is co-owned by one of South Africas most prominent artist, producer and DJ Oscar Mdlongwa (Oskido).

Theo Nyhaba of The Sunday World reports that -
Mafikizolo’s leading man, Theo Kgosinkwe, is following in the footsteps of his sidekick, Nhlahla Nciza, and is going solo. Kgosinkwe is at present working on his debut album, which will be released soon.

The album is not titled yet but he says he is looking for a name that sounds original.
Kgosinkwe, says the project has elements of other genres, such as house and jazz, on it. He is very excited about the fact that he is also working with an excellent team in the project.

Im not feeling Theo and Nhlanhlas solo ideas, some things are better done in a team. Like Mafikizolo-type-music. Anyhow, will be waiting on Theos album. I wasnt even aware he was going solo, the price I pay for paying too much attention to Kabelo and no one else these days :-)

I have been a Mafikizolo fan from the begining and I like what they have done for themselves and for us as their fans. I would like to say congratulations to Nhlanhla and Theo for their achievements to date. I would like to know one thing though...What about 'us' the Mafikizolo fans, what must we listen to now? fair enough most group members go solo after a while but what about the fans who enjoy Mafikizolo as Mafikizolo, what about those who are used to seeing Nhlanhla and Theo perfoming together? I say do your solo singles and create your indivisual fans but give me give us the Mafikizolo fans which you created what we want , what we have been enjoying and suporting and what we still are most willing to embrace.

Theo Kgosinkwe is doing quite well as a solo artiste, just like Nhlanhla. Xoliswa, you can always listen to the timeless Mafikizolo songs. I am sure they will be back to do a reunion album or something or at least make music together in their solo careers. Has anyone heard of them featuring each other though?

You should support them as much as you did when they were together you know, they are trying to prove that they can still do great music without each other.
