What exactly is tarnishing someone's image? Can people not speak the truth anymore? can't our musicians hold anyone accountable if we won't do it publicly?

News story
A Bungoma musician has gone into hiding after a gang of masked youths raided his Kabuchai home baying for his blood on the accusation that he had tarnished the name of a senior local politician.
Africa 2007
He seems to have stirred up controversy with his latest political song, Omwayi (herdsman), in which he questions leadership qualities of top officials of an opposition party. He is said to be hiding in Nairobi after the May 7 raid.

His wife Emily Nasimiyu and their nine-year-old son were harassed by the 10-man gang who demanded to know the musician's whereabouts.

In his latest release, Omwayi, he figuratively sings about a shepherd who took his flock of 24 cattle to graze, but engaged in other playful activities, leaving most of the animals to wander.

He returned home with only four. The song is often played at a rival party's rallies.

Watila says he has done nothing wrong, arguing: "I only sang about political events that have taken place."

However, some branch and national officials of the aggrieved party have instructed a Bungoma lawyer to take legal action against the musician.
