Douk Saga - Coupe decale!
Stephan Hamidou Doukouré, aka Douk Saga, was a musician from the Ivory Coast.
Part of the group, La Jet Set, he is known to be the creator of the music genre that has taken Africa and the rest of the world by storm, called Coupé-Décalé and is affectionately called the President.
Coupe Decale means 'cut and shift'. It is a unique style using African percussions, deep bass among others. It expressed the pulse of the Ivorian society while giving an insight into the political situation of the country.
Here are a couple of his music videos ...
....and he did the up-tempo and the slow-tempo as well
Magic System, the world-famous singers of the party anthem, Premier Gaou, got into the Coupé-Décalé act with this song.
Douk Saga died on October 12, 2006. May he rest in peace. His music lives on.
Our friend, Africaincorp blogged about him earlier.
La Jet Set Tribute

it is with deep regret and sadness that i write this short message. I am a nigerian and a great fan of the president la jet set. His style, dress sense, just about everything you caN Imagine was glamorous, and he was a true epitome for africans both home and abroad. I just pray to God that if he died naturally, then his soul should rest in peace, but if anyone had a hand in his demise, then, their own destinies will be cut short in a horrible way too. To a true african hero, good bye
Douk Saga I'm a great Fan of yours as well I'll miss you all your HOT SONG'S
I like your style and the dances as well. I;m also a dancer I dance Coupe Decale even though I am a Liberian, but to me it doesn't even matter who you are long as you know yourself then, you can as well. RIP,and you'll be resurrected in God rememberance.
