Luther Azamati (Papi), Jeffery Opoku Agyekum (Killy), Gyino

5-5 (5Five) is a pop fusion duo with an inclining for experimental genres that have crossover appeal. It is made up of Luther Azamati (Papi) and Jeffery Opoku Agyekum (Killy). They rep Adabraka, a suburb of Accra. They grew up around a lot of music and were exposed to a plethora of genres which still influence their song writing and flow. Their debut single was done together with Batman Samini (MOBO awards winner) called Bull (4 better 4 worse) on the Appietus compilation.

Papi is a typical hip-hop head going back to the mid 90's with countless cameo appearances on several mixtapes that never got mainstream radio rotation. His music is inspired a lot of the times by abstract thoughts that he either translates in his paintings or lyrics. He’s mostly hanging with his boyz in the hood or at his manager’s crib writing and listening to music.

Killy on the other is a rap scholar of sorts. He teamed up with Papi about three years ago after he managed to overcome the love-hate relationship he had with the underground. Killy currently studies Business and Accounting at Central University College.

Their manager is Nana Asiamah ‘Bulldog’ Hanson. 5-5 says they want to be clearly distinguished from the signature three-month burnout cuts floating on urban radio lately.

5Five's second album, Adabraka (12 tracks), is out in 2008 and promises to be as successful as 'Ur luv'. There is a new member in the form of Gyino as well.

Some of their popular songs are Pretty girl, Lamiokor, Banana, Akyeke na paya, Min sumo bo, Tell Mama, Ei! Shorty, Si wa gedem, Party, I See Girls. etc.

These boys r doing their own thing koraa.
I like how they came in wif quite a bang..hopefully they will top this up with another lekker sophomore album.
There is some Akon vibe/edge bi to it but I like it. And some 'sweetest taboo' line bi koraa

By the way shdn't Akon also be on Museke?

Chale's picture

Yeah, Killy (I think he's the guy who does the chorus) sounded a lot like Akon in this song. The video is great, I wonder who shot it - good quality. Yea, where did we hear that sweetest taboo line sef?

Concerning Akon, his stuff is welcome here so far as I am concerned, he's an African musician, is he not?
