Uuh yea, very many many happy returns

Silver or gold have I not
So I give my token gifts
They call this one thing, call this cheap
But I know you will appreciate

Chorus 2x
Uuh yea, I wish you happy birthday
Uuh yea, very many many happy returns

You look so good
You look so bright
Everyone is talking about you
Birthdays come once in a year
And I know you want to celebrate

Repeat Chorus 2x

Tinkle tinkle goes the clock
And good morning everyday
Chatting, laughing happily
We do, we do, we have to survive

Repeat Chorus 2x

GHANA @50, be there or square

Ghana@50 6TH MARCH, 1957.
Does this ring a bell? The first country out of Sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence? What about “the battle has ended, Ghana, your beloved country, is free forever” These were the words from Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of the Republic of Ghana when Ghana attained independence.
This year, Ghana is celebrating 50 years since independence and I am glad to announce it to the whole of Africa and the world at large. A lot of activities have been lined up for this event and I want to invite all Africans and stakeholders, investors to come join the people of “Gold Coast” (Ghana) on her anniversary.

Honeymoon is over - time to love Ghana again

...Sounds on da ground and seens on the see-ins

A lot of people have attributed the relative lack of success of Kojo Antwi's latest album, "Tattoo' to its slow-paced songs. Listening to the album, even though it is short of club bangers, the songs would grow on you the more you listen to them. Kojo was queried about these concerns by a Peace FM DJ and he pointed out that he wanted to make music more for the ears (and heart) and not the feet. They discussed one of his new tracks, 'Honeymoon is over'. After listening to this song a couple of times, I agree perfectly with Quajo-Quajo.

'Tattoo'is Kojo Antwi's latest album. The title track talks about Kojo tattooing his love onto his chest/heart. The album also has 'Osebo' (tiger) which enjoyed the most airplay and talks about his love waking up the tiger in him (hmm), 'Maintenance man', 'Do me wu' and 'Odo a medo wo'. 'Honeymoon is over' is not my favourite song but a comment passed about it during that interview increased my interest in the song. The song is linked to Ghana's upcoming golden anniversary, 1957-2007.

...Sounds on da ground and seens on the see-ins

It's been almost three weeks since the World Cup in Germany came to an end. The Black Stars' dream ended earlier, as 'the boys' bowed out to defending champions, Brazil. The other team that managed to emerge victors over Ghana's golden footballers, Italy, won the tournament (for the fourth time). Watching ESPN, Univision and ABC's telecasts of the mundial, I couldn't hear the Ghanaian contingent's cheers. I managed to watch Ghana's games again on Africast and I especially loved the way Black Star cheer songs were played when Ghana scored goals. Unfortunately, I have none of the Black Star cheer songs, but I have and know one particular song that was played everytime Ghana played - the famous national anthem. It's time to pay some respect to its lyrics my people.

Ghana, Hail the Name of Ghana

God bless our homeland Ghana
And make our nation great and strong
Bold to defend for ever
The cause of Freedom and of Right
Fill our hearts with true humility
Make us cherish fearless honesty,
And help us to resist oppressors' rule
With all our will and might for evermore

(repeat previous two lines)
