Phillipa Baafi is one of the top gospel musicians from Ghana. She sings in Twi and Pidgin English. The Manhyia native is seen as one of the gospel icons and is on her way to a glorious career.
She started singing during her basic school years even though her parents were against her taking up music seriously. Due to her brilliance, she ended up at St. Monica’s Secondary School) at Mampong where she held positions like School Prefect, Science Club president and Scripture Union president while singing in the choir. Once, she completed school, she recorded her first album, “Nyame Honhom sane” meaning Descend upon us, Thou Holy Ghost.
During her time in school, she lost both parents. She had to take care of her siblings and these burdens prevented her from honouring her part scholarship to attend the University of Huddersfeld in the United Kingdom (UK). She however entered the FC Institute of Beauty and Skin Therapy in Accra to pursue a diploma. She went to release ‘Mogya n’akasa’ (The Blood that speaks) in 2002, and Okyeso Nyame, (The Great Provider) in 2003. Her fourth album, ‘Yesu ye me Last stop’ (Jesus is my final refuge) was a major success. Her fifth album, Agye Nyame (2006), enjoyed even more success on the back of the hit, Meyi M'akyea. Her 6th album, Go high, is poised to be even better.
Philipa has plans to set up a foundation only for orphans and the vulnerable. She is represented by Kariphil Productions. She is also a beauty therapist by training with a shop in Kumasi
Some of her hit gospel songs are Mogya no akasa, Yesu ye me last stop, Nkwa, W'ayeyie, Ma m'atamfo nte nhwe, Agye Nyame, Woanka me ho, Won a wonim Nyame and Ebenezer.

Hi Philipa,
I like all your songs but my favourite is Nkwa on your new album. Your lyrics are so exceptional. Do you really write your own songs? You are great. We realise some musicians are trying to copy your style. Don't mind them and keep on keeping on.
W e are your fans and we are solidly behind you; bearing you up in prayers. God bless you, your husband and kids.
Bye,
Nana Kwame.
I agree, Nkwa is a spectacular song and the video is great too. You should also listen to 'Go high', her lead single for her latest album.
There are some older songs by Philippa Baafi which are great too, we shall bring them to you as well.

I love that song Go High. I heard it in Ghana at the NPP Rally and everyone was just dancing. Do you know where I can get hold of it, I need to listen to it when I'm out and about.
