Synopsis
Nya Ntetee Pa is the lead single off Obrafour's fourth album, Ntetee pa. This is the theme song for his Platinum Project on indiscipline campaign, started in 2003 in conjunction with that of Ghana's vice president. More information about the project and its launch is here.
Nya Ntetee Pa won the best written song of the year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2003 and this writer feels it deserved it. It implores Ghanaians to do everything they can to help their nation and be disciplined. It tackles the lackadaisical attitude of the members of parliament to national issues, lateness to work, corrupt policemen, drunk drivers, fellow musicians who only care about the money they make, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and fornication, armed robbery, bush fires, conflicts within homes and amongst people, etc. The song is complete with proverbs, idioms and word play that exhibits Obrafour's lyrical prowess in Twi.
