Marley (Youssou Ndour)

(partie omise)

Marley was a young soul who throwed it away

He showed the world the route to reggae

One love no woman no cry

Stand up Africa unite

The Rasta man he was a really good man

Give thanks to the one who gave the world Marley

Give thanks to the one who gave us Bob Marley

He never intended to go away

Before he did he had a lot to say

One love, No woman no cry

Stand up Africa unite

The Rasta man he was a really good man

La musique de Marley m’a bien inspiré

Du brésil, Australie et même Bombay

Les africains, indiens portuguais

Eazzy dazzles fans with her 'Twinkle'

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

A typical prop 8 situation was the order of this weekend as major events lined up. Every major night club was booked and fully packed but the scene at the silver star tower was simply awe inspiring. I wondered who could have caused such a stir. It wasn't long before I discovered that arguably Africa's hottest and sexiest female artist EAZZY was the subject matter of the night, it was the launching of her TWINKLE album. It didn't really strike me with a chord of surprise. Her career has always been full of spring ups, her fall on stage, her amazing success with only two singles, the list goes on and now the magnificent crowd she had managed to scoop on one of the busiest Saturday nights on our entertainment calender.

From Hawking on the streets to music - 2Kay

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •

To say 2kay, real name Abiye David Jumbo, has had to struggle for his break in the music industry is an understatement. Not that having to fight to get what you want is an alien concept to the newest artise on the Grafton Streetz label.

He grew up in the violent regions of Port Harcourt and it is those experiences that 2kay started writing music about from a very early age. But trying to focus on the music was difficult when he had turmoil in his private life that reflected that going on in his surroundings. At the age of 12 he had to hawk kerosene on the streets to help his struggling mother maintain the family. It is perhaps here that 2kay was able to understand the power of his music as he proved a popular salesman with a selling and singing pitch.
