Nigeria's music industry improving, booming and growing
The first few Nigerian songs that made serious impressions on me were 2Face Idibia's Africa Queen and Styl-Plus' Olufunmi in 2004. Ever since then, Nigeria's music has been growing in popularity steadily. Songs like African Queen opened up other countries to embrace the new school and crop of Nigerian musicians. They began to rival the Angelique Kidjos, Awilo Longombas, Koffi Olomides, Yvonne Chaka Chakas and Magic Systems. Today, led by P-Square, D'Banj, 9ice and 2Face Idibia, Naija music is well sought all over Africa and in some cases more popular than the local music.
