Tay Grin – ‘Focus Africa’
He is Malawi’s most famous rapper by far. At age 9, Lambadi Kalian aka TAY GRIN asserted he would be his own boss. At 14 he predicted two things; that he would own his own company and be a rap music sensation before he was 21. The first rap artist to make an impression on Tay Grin was Jay-z. To find his individual and distinctive rap voice however, Tay looked inwards at his African soul and found that the roots of his Chechewa heritage and Malawian culture gave him his true and unique style that complemented the original American hip-hop template.

Africa Unite (Alonzo)

let's unite

I wanna know why
what's going on in Africa

Can somebody please tell me, wetin dey happen in Africa

nation against nation, and brother against brother

and just as we keep on fighting, women and children starving

let's forget about our differences, and come together and live in unity

Africans, we're all one people

See as we dey live in frustration

tell me, what's the future like for African education?

tell me, what's the future like for we the African youth?

I say, Africa unite

Thirsty for blood, asking for more

Hatred increasing

Sweet child, dream child
morning begins at the end of the dark

Sweet child, dream child
morning begins at the end of the dark

Some day, some way, someone will take you so far away
