Chit-chat: Ogopa DJS (Kenyan producers)
Ogopa Deejays is a one of the best production houses in Africa. They've produced countless hits for East African musicians and have recently gotten into music video direction. They've worked with artists like Nameless, Mr. Lenny, Wahu, Big-Pin, Amani, Necessary Noize, A-Y, Lady Jaydee, etc. Their Ogopa Volumes and Compilation are hot commodities on the music scene and more recently, they have artists like Avril, Colonel Mustafa, Marya, Trapee, coming out of their stable. A few years ago, they partnered with Namibia's Butterfly Entertainment to produce Namibian musicians, expand their reach to Southern Africa and continue their excellent track record. That partnership has produced songs and videos for Gal Level, The Dogg, Sunny Boy, Faizel MC, Kalaharians, Roger, amongst others. Museke.com asked the Ogopa guys about their work and below is the transcript.
Museke.com: What is the history of Ogopa DJ’s?
Ogopa: Ogopa Djs is a production house that emerged in the late nineties in East Africa. The founding partners, having been performing artistes in their own right were actively involved with Deejaying and had constant interaction with upcoming artistes trying to make it in an environment that was 100% dominated with western music. In early 2000 the production house Ogopa Deejays was formed. And this was to be the beginning of what is sometimes referred to as the “local music Revolution” that was experienced in East Africa.

My name came from Gal Level, a Namibian RnB group, coz they use to compare my voice to a dog’s bark.
