Nigerian music sensation, Nneka, had a world cup song, Viva Africa and has been featured on CNN recently. She also featured American hip hop star, Nas, on a remix of her hit song, Heart beat. Half-Ghanaian and half-Nigerian Dizzee Rascal wins #BETAwards Best International Act

Kojo Antwi, K'Naan, P-Square, M.I., Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) were all nominated for best international act at the BET Awards but lost out to Dizzee Rascal, a British rapper, songwriter and record producer of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent. . Sade, who has ties to Nigeria, and Estelle (Senegal) and Dizzee Rascal (Ghana) were also nominated. Nigerian rapper, Wale, was also nominated for best new artist.

The 10th Annual BET Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah, were broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Drake, Trey Songz and P. Diddy's Dirty Money were among the scheduled performers. The winner list is as follows:

Best Female R&B Artist: Alicia Keys

Best Male R&B Artist: Trey Songz

Best Gospel: Marvin Sapp

Museke Online Africa Music Awards 2010 Africa Diaspora artist of the year - Suzanna Lubrano

Suzanna Lubrano, is the inaugural winner of the best Diaspora based African artiste of the year at the annual Museke Online Africa Music Awards.

She enjoyed a spectacular 2009 with the release of her Festa Mascarado, which had countless hit singles. The album was produced by Mass Appeal Entertainment. She toured all around Africa, Europe and the United States. Her videos were shown to huge acclaim on continental television stations as well as online media like Youtube. She has been a strong proponent of Cape Verdean pop music and Zouk.

Suzanna is based in Rotterdam, Holland and her music is widely known there as well as in Portuguese-speaking countries like Portugal, Angola and Mozambique. Festa Mascarado, the first single, particularly enjoyed a lot of airplay.

UPDATED: Dizzee Rascal wins BET Awards Best International Act

Kojo Antwi, K'Naan, P-Square, M.I., Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP) have all been nominated for best international act at the BET Awards. Sade, who has ties to Nigeria, Estelle (Senegal) and Dizzee Rascal (Ghana) are also nominated. Nigerian rapper, Wale, is also nominated for best new artist.

The 10th annual show will feature performances from Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Diddy-Dirty Money, who was on hand to announce the nominations, along with Oscar nominee Queen Latifah, who will serve as host. The BET Awards 2010 will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 27, at 8 p.m.
