Tam Tam by Foliba Trio (Cote d'ivoire) #CIV
We are Foliba Trio from Abidjan- Ivory Coast. With sounds reminiscent of traditional Malian 'donso ngoni' combined with 21st century instruments, we just released our debut album 'Matopié Wa'. Matopié Wa is a hybrid style of West African music with virtuoso voices, an
malgamation of edgy drums and slicing guitar riffs. Using modern instruments the Foliba Trio produced pentatonic sounds of the donso ngoni with a hint of African American blues tonality. Our music offers a tantilising cocktail of tracks, running the gamut from Malian traditional griot songs, Burkina Faso folks dance, rhythms reminiscent of Salif Keita in his debut years and some reggae tunes a la African.
