Faze: I’m good and u

Museke.com: Can you tell us about your background and family?
Faze: I’m the 4th born of my family of 11, 6 boys 3 girls my mum and dad

Museke.com: How did you get into music and what was your first break?
I’ve been singing right from secondary school days but I took it as a profession 1995

Museke.com: How did you guys get together to form Plantashun Boiz?
Faze: It started with black face and 2 face. Then I was called lyrical Urge because I used to rap but when I joined the group I had to change my name to faze to blend with the group name.

Museke.com: Which African musicians did you listen to growing up?
Faze: Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Bongo Zikwe ,most of their names were mentioned in my single ‘’originality’’ which is also the title of the album.

Museke.com: What are your most memorable collaborations?
Faze: Plantashun boiz

Museke.com: Which musicians would you like to work with?
Faze: Am ready to work with anyone because in doing that am able to flex my ability.

Museke.com: Which African musicians do you admire (presently)?
Faze: Akon

Museke.com: What kind of music do you do?
Faze: Its called universal flavor it’s a fusion of r and b, rap, reggae, pidgin and afro hip hop etc.

Museke.com: What is the inspiration for the songs you write?
Faze: You, what I see and hear in the environment other peoples’ experiences and most of all my own personal experiences.

Museke.com: What is your take on lyrics of young Nigerian music?
Faze: Some are good and some are trying but I believe with time and hard work they’ll get there.

Museke.com: You have performed in many places. Where were your favorite concerts?
Faze: I don’t have specific one but the ones with international artist like campuses, Wyclef, Akon, T-Pain, Beenie man, etc

Museke.com: What is the difference between what JTON productions and what Independent records do?
Faze: Jton manages Faze in America while I am the c.e.o of independent entertainment.

Museke.com: What is the deal with Akon’s Konvict records? Are they going to produce or distribute your upcoming album?
Faze: We are still working on it.

Museke.com: Tell us about your upcoming album.
Faze: Its out and its called ORIGINALITY a 17 tracks album. I'ts been in stores since October 4.

Museke.com: What happened to Plan B (The Plantashun Boiz) reunion?
Faze: There were marketing issues.

Museke.com: How do you handle your many female fans?
Faze: I appreciated them.

Museke.com: Should we read much into the whole See me so – letter to my brother controversy with Tuface Idibia?
Faze: If you listen to the song it says forget about the past na the future really matter, that says it all.

Museke.com: What has been your most challenging song to write?
Faze: Faze alone.

Museke.com: If you could be one piece of music you’ve written, what (song) would it be and why?
Faze: I will say need somebody cos it has the reggae side of me.

Museke.com: What is your take on piracy and payola (paying deejays to play your music on the radio)?
Faze: These are tough things to deal with but gradually we can change the rules of the game.

Museke.com: What is in the future of your music?
Faze: I see myself getting international recognition and picking up international awards eg grammy.

Museke.com: How can African music get more play outside the continent?
Faze: Since English is the widest spoken language we need to put a fusion of it in our music.

Museke.com: Do you have any present engagements and works other than music?
Faze: I have other plans but for now my music and my label INDEPENDENT entertainment are my greatest focus.

Museke.com: What are your hobbies and pastimes?
Faze: I write songs and sometimes browse on the internet also I like making friends.
