Do you remember the track Girlz Girlz? The song received massive airplay in late 2003 and it came as an answer to Okomfour Kwaadee's Boyz Boyz. Girls Girls introduced Triple M, made up of Mildred Mark-Hansen, Mercy Quarshie and Monica Tawiah, to the Ghanaian music scene. They were the first female hiplife group, even though they initially started out by singing gospel music in 1995. They never released a gospel album though. Another of their hit singles was Koti, a song about policemen who beat an irresponsible husband while his wife pleads for mercy. After the Koti album, they featured on Jay Q's Compilation, where they delivered one of 2003's biggest hits, Driver, which was the female version of Castro's Sradenam. Their sophomore debut was called 3+1=? (yes, you read that right). And then Mercy went solo, and we didn't hear much about the group. Museke.com brings you a quick update.

We never really got the hang of the title of the second album. Other outlets reported the title as 3-1=? which may have meant one of the girls left the group. This album (2005) had tracks like Mempe, Shun am, Sweetie sweetie, Pletu and Mmarima. However, it didn't do as well as their debut and they never quite got the level of popularity Mzbel achieved.Soon after, Mercy went solo and called herself Manye Mercy/Queen Mercy. The former student of Ebenezer Secondary School presented herself as an alternative to Mzbel. She is the niece of Franklina Jones, a gospel musician. The album was named Manye Mercy and had tracks like Me ne Kwame nam (Sika do), Saa adee no, Nbele laaje, Mele ni yaa, etc while featuring Okra, Bright Bling Sparkles, Stone Boy, Biggie Man and Bell Born-fly. Her debut album was not very successful but she featured on Tic Tac's Beware of Dogs together with Ex-Doe, and LIB Queen's Pretty Woman.
Mildred was the original leader of the group and is the daughter of Jerry Hansen of the famous Ramblers International Band. Maybe she will become more of an Afro-pop/highlife musician other than a hiplife artiste. She released her first solo singles in early 2008. Her full showbiz name is Shege Styler (Shegee) . She's featured on Mzbel's Kiss me together with Kwabena Kwabena and LIB Queen's Oga u go pay. She caused an uproar in the Ghanaian music scene with King Ayisoba after they supposedly tied the knot in her music video called 'So much love'. King Ayisoba's real wife was not pleased with the publicity stunt at all. At first glance, I thought it was really true, Wanlov da Kuborlor was the best man! Both artistes are produced by Pidgin Music.
Watch the music video below.
We don't know what happened to Monica yet but stay tuned for more.
King Ayisoba weds Shegee
