Malaika is a pop group from South Africa made up of Jabulani Herald Ndaba (Jabulani), Matshediso Florence Mholo (Tshedi), and Bongani Kevin Nchang (Bongani). They consider their producer, Guffy Pilane, a fourth member. Their style can be grouped under kwaito, rock or Afro-pop. Their music is a perfect blend of post-kwaito, post-mbaqanga and neo-soul.

The group was formed out of the ashes of the kwaito outfit Stouters (The Mischiefs) and Godfrey “Guffy” Pilane was instrumental in its formation as well. Bongani Nchanga and Jabu Ndaba were original members of the Stouters, while Tshedi joined them.

Their debut album, Malaika, was multiple platinum, selling over 350,000 copies. They won the Best Newcomer Group statuette in 2004 and then the Best Afro-Pop Group in 2005 Channel O Music Video Awards and the Best Southern African Group at the 2005 Kora awards.

They also released Vuthelani which was a resounding success.

Their 2007 album, Sekunjalo, was successful too and won them many awards, including the SAMAs.

Their fourth album, Mmatswale, was released in 2009.

Some of their songs include I am an African, Melodi (Hoona Joale), Dichabeng, Gauteng, Hamba, Amacilongo, Mmatswale, Chaba naledi, Sebaka Nyana, Hamba, Ting ting, Indoda Yempandla (Beware Verwoerd), Sajika, Baba wami, Kwa kumnandi, etc

Everyday is mother's day for me. Melodi(Hoona Joale) by Malaika is me and my mummy's song (one of the many). Hoona Joale is Sesotho for "right now" and the songs talks about the joy of seeing a loved one after a long period of absence from home. My mother is the reason I am who I am, and the reason I'm going to be a better, stronger, and more successful African and global citizen. How many people can vouch for me when I say even the mere thought of your mother keeps you out of trouble :-P
So Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers!!!!

My fav Afro pop group released another album, called "Sekunjalo", which loosely means "It's about that time". Lovely to the max! I am blackmailing and using some last-born skills to get this one :-) hehe. Apparently it delivers more than what u'd expect from Malaika. But we shall look out for premier vids, singles etc. You just keep that your head on Museke! :-)

Malaika will be in Ghana to participate in MTN's opening concert for the African Cup of Nations.

I am glad to hear this, we should all think likewise. You spoke very nicely of you mom, I am sure she is a special person. My mom is a saint for me... I can't find the words to tell her how much I care about her, she deserves everything.
