The Nigerian elections are drawing nearer and we at Grafton Records are calling on all youths to help us put pressure on the politicians to deliver us a fair and free vote. Too often our youth become puppets and get involved in coercion and violence on behalf of self-interested politicians. It's time we used the power of our vote in our interest and to sow a better future for this generation and all that follow it. For our part, Grafton is releasing the track, 'Hope for Tomorrow', a manifesto of music for the youth that highlights the many factors that stand in the way of us making the political change that will benefit us all.

CEO Tonye Ibiama had a message of responsibility for the Grafton family ahead of recording the track. "We need to make the youth aware of the dangers of being used for the wrong purpose during the forthcoming polls. We want to use our only resource, which is music, to inform them and try and create a mindset that will open an avenue toward a free and fair election. We don't want them to drift into cynicism. A lot of the youth might think it’s a waste of time to vote because of the monetary influence but if we stand and do nothing, the same thing will happen to us again. The youth have more power than they can imagine and it is our mission at Grafton to help them release it in a positive way for the benefit of their and our future."

All newly signed Grafton artistes collaborate on the 4-minute song produced by Grafton Records resident producer DJ Spike. Artistes such as Abi, Tha Ibz, dj Big mouf, 2kay, Sweet Jems, Valo, tackle the issues of corruption and bad leadership, while at the same time drawing attention to how far we have come as a nation. And how far we can go.

'Hope for Tomorrow' will be the officially released to radio on Wednessday July 28, 2010. It will be available soon after on free download. There will be people against this release. In particular those that want to use the youth for their own anti-democratic ways. Nevertheless, Grafton is here to aid the youth in reminding the politicians that they are here to serve them and not the other way around.
