ZAIN, MTV SEARCH AFRICAN CONTINENT FOR UNDISCOVERED MUSIC TALENT IN MY VIDEO CONTEST
MTV and Zain are celebrating Africa’s wannabe music stars by empowering amateur singers to participate in the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA).

As part of the build-up for the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain, MTV and Zain have created a special award category called My Video – open to amateur singing enthusiasts from across the continent.

If you’re a vocalist or group aged 18 or older and want to move your dreams of singing stardom from your shower cubicle onto the world stage, enter the My Video contest and you could find yourself collecting your own trophy at the MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain in Nairobi on 10 October.

To participate in My Video, all you need to do is to create a short video clip of yourself singing any song of your choice and get it to your nearest Zain Centre (excluding South Africa) or send it to MTV between 15 June and 27 July. Whether it’s your own composition, the latest radio hit or a classic track, you can choose any popular youth oriented music genre from hip hop to R&B, genge, dancehall, hiplife, kwaito, pop, rock, alternative, reggae and more.
You can record your video yourself or visit one of the Zain Instant Fame booths that will be situated in Zain Centres in Burkina Faso, Chad, Republic of Congo, DRC, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Submissions should be no more than 2 minutes long.

To complete your entry, drop it in to your local Zain Centre or send your video on DVD or MP4 together with a My Video application form to: My Video Submissions, MTV Networks Africa, P.O. BOX 411855, Craighall, 2024, South Africa, or upload it to: www.mama.mtvbase.com under the My Video section, or email it to: myvideo@mtvne.com (files under 2MB only).

The My Video contest is open to all African citizens aged 18+ and launches on the 15th June 2008.
