Seif Shaban aka Matonya is a Bongo flava artiste from Tanzania. He names himself Matonya in honour of a famous beggar in Dar Es Salaam who was repatriated to Dodoma. This was because of the trials and struggles he went through to make it as a musician in Tanzania. Matonya means trouble. His music is inspired by Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Tyrese, Famon and Akon.

He had his education in the Tanga region before moving to Dar Es Salaam to pursue a music career. In school, he formed a group called Dyborn circle with three friends - Mark, Rama and Davie.

Their first single was Tuko Pamoja (We are Together), recorded in 2000. Matonya's first album (Uaminifu) was in 2003 but it was his sophomore effort that really made him of Tanzania's top artistes.

His hit song Vailet (probably the top Tanzanian song in 2006) is a real life story about a girl he had been vibing.

His other songs include Ndio wewe, Karibu, Siamini, Ndoto Zandu, Bye bye, Mrembo, etc.
