BOUQUI, born Bukola Folayan, is the first female to release a rap album in Nigeria. She was born to a Professor of Biochemistry father and a professional teacher mother, she alongside her other five siblings grew up in an academic atmosphere of the Obafemi Awolowo University (Ile-Ife) and this has served as a big influence for her deep lyrical style and cosmopolitan outlook. Her Christian faith and strong belief in the words of God as laid out in the Holy Bible is however the factor to the formation of the Bouqui brand.

2010 is going to be a big year for Abolore Akande, the Alapomeji man. Tradition, his third album, was released in December 2009 and he's already out with a follow-up, called Versus. The album will feature 9ice versus a different artiste on each track.

The Nigerian superstar is mostly known for his famous hit, Gongo aso. 9ice has a lot to say in the albums, especially given what he's gone through recently. He divorced his wife, Toni Payne and they've been stories of him 'stealing songs'. He did feature Asa on Pete Pete, which is quickly becoming a Yoruba classic, from his Tradition album.

Some of the tracks on Versus are Sarafawe - 9ice Vs M.I, Loni Ni: 9ice Vs Dagrin, Atamatase 9ice VS Mode 9. Click the links to listen to them.

Take U Away

Breathe in slow let it out again..
Let it out again.....

I wanna take u away (4x)
we will rise, we will rise, we will rise
up to the sky
I wanna take u away (2x)

Verse 1

lock you gaze wit mine
let us start to connect..

it's about that time
let us start to reflect
they said we'd never live
they said we'll fall and die..

Mon Wa Eni

Thought our love was so strong
Moving on and on, before I wrote this song

You used to tell me that I'm yours
That I could always have all your trust
But then you let them come between us

Okay, he's rich, he can give you everything that you need
Is that the reason why you had to leave?

You left my heart in pain
Omo, it's such a shame
That things will never be the same

You never needed me
We were never meant to be

Very beautiul, intellectual

My African queen
