The late Lucky Ermelo Dube was one of the biggest reggae artistes ever to come out of Africa.
He was named 'Lucky' because her mother had trouble giving birth. Dube is also a town area in Johannesburg. In his youth, he sang in bars in his hometown. He was conducting his school choir at 9 and singing in church. He tried to start a band with some friends and after performing a play that Lucky wrote, they made enough to purchase more instruments and then started the Skyway band. They played a Zulu genre of music called Mbaqanga.
