K'Naan Warsame is a hip hop artist, poet and writer. K'Naan means traveller in Somali and he hails from Mogadishu (Hawiye clan). He was influenced by the hip hop records his father sent him as a child and began rapping once he had a good command of English.
He now lives in Ontario, Canada in the midst of a large Somali community. He is seen as one of Africa's best rappers and has been praised for his conscious lyrics. His lead single, Soobax made it to the soundtrack of FIFA Football 2006, by EA Sports.
He had the chance to speak at the 50th Anniversary of the UN Commission for Refugees and read a poem that attacked the UN’s failed relief mission in Somalia in 1991. He has spoken of his hit song, Soobax, as "the anthem for the revolution going on in my country (Somalia) right now".
Some of his songs are Kicked Pushed, African way, If Rap gets jealous, My God, In my own home.

K'naan is a revolutionary! I really like his song called African way and If rap gets jealous.
"A guy from Somalia who lives in Toronto, K'Naan, his album is called Dust foot Philosopher, he does a song with Damian Marley. His album is excellent. He mixes African drumming, music, and hip hop, but his lyrics are just amazing. He has a line in one of his songs where he says, "In the land of Somalia where life is cheap, but wisdom is free." You should listen to the album, it's beautiful".

My mother's pearl
Yiiiiaaaoowww!
*breathing*
So -
In the beginning there was hum
from a poet whose pulse fell
Drum drum drum!
He would perform prayers and all
till one day he heard a voice call
Come come come!
Suspicious he moved with vicious caution
Dismisses, he thinks it's a little off
People get held back
By the voice inside them
Thank you for the submission

He may be the best lyricist from africa. i like his music
sometimes i feel like he is trying to sound like Will..i..am from the blackeyedpeas...they sound alike
Hmm, K'Naan is his own man though, but he can be likened to many rappers out there, especially the conscious ones.
