Angélique Kidjo is a musician from Ouidah, Benin and one of Africa's music superstars. She is the daughter of an actress, dancer and theatrical producera nd was born in Quidah in Benin. Her first performing experience was as a six year old actor-dancer in her mother's theatre troupe. She relocated to Paris in the 1980's where she sang with various bands and quickly became one of the most popular live performers in Paris.

She sings in Fon, Yoruba, French and English and her music is influenced by various genres (afropop, zouk, rumba, jazz, gospel) all around the world.
