One of Ghana's foremost reggae musicians, Shasha Marley was born Julius Amua-Sekyi. He grew up listening to reggae greats and composing music. He was part of Matthew Chapter 5 (high school band) in St. John's High School, Sekondi, Ghana. After high school, he started singing in nightclubs. His father was once a Director of Education in the Western Region of Ghana and he was in a family of lawyers.
Shasha Marley has been described as a 'Monk on the loose', due to his routine stage presence wearing a hood over a matching cassock and a sash.
