    Seydou Koné

Alpha Blondy was born Seydou Koné in Dimbokoro, Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa. He is an Ivorian reggae singer and a major international recording artist. Alpha Blondy sings mainly in his native language of Dioula, in French and English, and also sometimes in Arabic or Hebrew. His lyrics convey strong political attitudes and a fine sense of humor. In particular, he coined the French term democrature (an English equivalent might be "democratatorship") to identify some African governments.

First son of a family of nine children, Seydou Kone was born in Dimbokro in 1953.

    Frederic Desire Ehui

Frederic Desire Ehui was born on March 17th, 1962 in Grand-Bassam, a coastal town west of Abidjan, in the Ivory Coast.

His father, a sales representative in a local business, was an amateur accordionist and his mother often sang in the choir of her local Catholic Church. Both of his parents were also members of several local groups. It was therefore quite natural that Frederic started singing in church around the age of nine and continued to do so until he was sixteen. In junior high, Frederic became friend with a member of Pace, the school band.
