VIP which means Vision in Progress is made up of Abdul Hamidu Ibrahim (Lazzy), Emmanuel Promzy Ababio (Promzy), and Joseph Nana Ofori (Prodigal). They are a hip hop/hiplife group in Ghana. They are the closest thing Ghana has to an international superstar band and they continue to work on marketing hiplife beyond Ghana's borders.
VIP is made up of Abdul Hamidu Ibrahim (Lazzy) Emmanuel Promzy Ababio (Promzy) Joseph Nana Ofori (Prodigal) Their initial involvement with music started way back in the early nineties, at Nima a suburb of Accra. As a group they easily embodied the greatness and perseverance that reflected a tough, unforgiving and ambitious Ghetto life. They met to see "who is who"in rap competitions. Little did they know that one day they would become superstars.
They were the first hiplife group to win a major international award. They won best group at the 2004 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards in South Africa. After this, they collaborated with Nigeria's Tuface Idibia and Tony Tetuila on their Pussycat (My love) album released in 2006. Before that, they had released their debut album Yedi aba in 1999, Lumbe Lumbe Lumbe in 2000, Daben na odo beba in 2001 and Ahomka womu in 2003.
Their most recent album was Progress, released under Paradise Entertainment. They are managed by Boogie Down Nima. Check out this website and documentary about VIP by BDN vision and learn about Homegrown - a hiplife movie about their career here
